Hi all! Well might as well get this out of the way, but yes, this will be quite a long and chatty post, so if that's not for you, i guess i'll see you back here next week with a shorter more straight to the point post. If you read all the way to the bottom of my last blog post you would've heard about this post in planning, and welcome back! Here's a quick heads up for what to expect from this post; I've got a green smoothie recipe to share, the ultimate running playlist and just a 100% motivational story about how i started from the bottom now i'm here.
The new green smoothie:
Ok so to be completely honest, i've always hated green smoothies or veggie smoothies, but i think i've created a pretty simple recipe for the perfect pre-workout, or anytime smoothie.
(the one pictured above is basically the prototype for this smoothie that i made ages back, and since then i've made it tastier and tastier, so i'll give you the updated version!)
These ingredients help you stock up on energy, and keep you full for a long time. The apple, banana, rolled oats, and (of course) leafy greens make the perfect combination for a green smoothie you can drink before every workout!

(forget cup measurements let's be real here)
A handful (and a bit) of fresh spinach
Enough low-fat milk to fill the container
An apple, green preferred
A banana
A handful of rolled oats
A pinch or two (or three) of ground cinnamon
Half an avocado
About 5 walnuts (hey they look pretty pre-smoothied)
Chuck all of these ingredients into a blender and blend until smooth, then sprinkle on the cinnamon, put in a straw and enjoy!

Now it's story time. If you're only here for the smoothie and the playlist scroll past here and i'll see you on the other side. SOO where to start, basically i had been doing no outside of school activities, little to no sport, and had been staying indoors each and every day sleeping in to 2pm (on weekends) and going to bed at 3am for nearly two years and recently thought t myself it's seriously time to change this up or i'll be stuck with these bad habits for ever. So after weeks of tossing around possible ideas that lead to no where i finally re-joined my old basketball club, joined the school cross country team, go running each saturday and sunday morning and am trying to eat healthier and eat more of the good stuff, with some occasional yoga, stretching, and high intensity just dance sessions. (my love for that game has been reborn, it's seriously not a bad way to get a bit more active, and some of the songs on there are just too good to pas up)
I've been taking sandwiches to school for lunch for 15 years of my life, so it's time change that up. I've been making large bowls of salad to take to school each week, mixing it up each week, and take it from me, it's much more exciting to grab a container of yummy leafy greens out of your bag for lunch instead of a few slices of bread. Here's what i had this week; pomegranate, baby spinach, avocado, cucumber, cherry tomatoes, parsley, drizzled with some basil infused olive oil yum yum yum!
I've also started doing my homework outdoors, sitting cramped up behind my desk for hours on end is so tiring and it's just so stuffy that i've found i get work done so much quicker and find it more enjoyable sitting outside with my music blasting from my laptop, the cool breeze blowing, and a punnet of blueberries right by my side.
I've kept all of this up for two weeks now (wow ash that's sooooo long great job...) but this is only the beginning, look out for another 'the new lifestyle' post coming out in a few months!
The new running playlist;
It may be a bit biased coming from me, but this playlist is pretty much the ultimate running playlist. Just try it out and you'll see what i mean! There's nothing like some Bruce Springsteen to get you motivated when running.

I hope you've enjoyed this post, and, if you made it this far congrats and thanks! I'll see you all again next week with (hopefully) a brand new fashion post that cat and i shot during the holidays on our adventure at chapel street, just gotta get the photos first hahaha! Ashley xox

RES Denim skirt, Topshop tee, Rubi shoes, Target socks

Hello hello! whoops, so i forgot to upload last week, i'm a but annoyed at that though i scheduled this post to upload by itself last Sunday, but of course, knowing my luck it just didn't happen. But anyway, better late than never!
I was up in Daylesford (my all time favourite home away from home) and being there, i thought, was the perfect opportunity, and atmosphere, to take some quick shots in the back alleyway of a Chinese restaurant. This outfit and this location were just made for each other, in my mind at least, as soon as i saw this rusty corrugated metal fence i made the coincidental connection between it's colour and the colour of the tiny spots on my socks, yep, that's my thought process; 'i have to stop and take some photos because this fence matches the colour of my sock spots!' try explaining that when you're late for lunch.
Anyway, i've had a blast of a week, and i just wanted to briefly share with you all that i've been up to (i'm thinking of doing a long chatty sort of post for next week with some smoothie recipes, maybe a playlist and a few happy snaps, let me know if you'd be interested in a post like that! but for now i'll keep it short) I've been so slack and so so lazy, sitting at home every morning and night, not getting outdoors or doing any sports for nearly 2 years now, and i decided it was really about time to get back into it, and so i've recently started playing basketball again (trust me, it's been way too long and i can't remember any-thing!) I've been eating healthier, drinking more water, looking after my skin and even going for daily runs and walks along the beach occasionally with my little four-legged friend, and i've even started writing a daily journal, which is surprisingly therapeutic. I'm feeling so so much happier everyday, and i thought sharing this with you may encourage some people to also get up and get active, even if it's just teeny tiny improvements, in the words of Katy Perry, "I went from zero, to my own hero." Have a fabulous week, Ashley xx.

Target top, H&M culottes, (and of course) my trusty Converse Chuck Taylors

Hey! How's it going? I've finally broke the chain of video making/uploading with a brand spanking new outfit of the day post. Let me just say one thing, it's been far too long since i've done a post like this, i mean to put this into perspective my last post like this was shot and uploaded on the nineteenth of feb... yeah, so that's that.
To be completely honest, the only reason i came up with this post title is because i sent one of the outtakes of the shoot to my friend who fittingly replied back; making my way downtown. And thus the title of the post was decided, (making my way) DOWNTOWN (walking fast, faces pass and i'm home bound..... do doo do do do do doood do dooo)
I was also feeling a bit creative whilst editing the photos, and tried out making some edits. Sorry, i know they turned out pretty creepy. There were, rejects, when i was sorting through the photos taken on the shoot, and from the 250 taken i managed to cull it down to 30, all of which i edited and cropped in alternate ways, but out of that 30 i cut it down again to 19, and coudln't choose which ones to delete, so i doubled some up in the editing process, then got rid of some, then edited more, the got rid of more, and this went on and on and on until i managed to get the final 12. (finally, took me long enough!)
I've already let myself ramble on and on for too long, so i'll wrap it up by saying this. I am in love with these stunning culottes, which has sparked my hunt for more amazing culottes. Just how amazing are the pants, i mean, you think i'm wearing a skirt but then, boom, it's actually pants! As you can tell i get way too hyped up about these pants... Have a fabulous weekend, Ashley xox
